Director's Note

This performance marks an exciting collaboration between Colorado Mesa University’s Theatre Arts Department and a new Regional Theater Initiative housed on campus. Co-produced by students and faculty, this production represents the beginning of a bold artistic venture—bringing professional-level theater to the Western Slope while providing CMU students hands-on experiences in the creation of dynamic, community-engaged performances. I am so glad you are here to join us at the start of something extraordinary.

After a soul-searching trip to Europe, Kazuo returned to the stage in The Antipodes, before being cast in Three Sisters, Amadeus, and The 39 Steps. He has also done a lot of film work, including a brief role on Amazon Prime's Fallout, and a full-length feature film, Shadows of the Night. Chayce is a Musical Theatre major at CMU, recently uprooted from Plano, Texas to complete her studies. This is her first time performing Shakespeare, but she has been surrounded by thespians her whole life and is no stranger to his works. She began her journey in higher education studying classical voice at the University of North Texas. After changing majors a few times, she received her AA from Collin College, where she earned all 3 of their Field of Study Certificates in Theatre. Since moving, Chayce has involved herself in the theatre however she can. She recently performed as Jane Doe in CMU's Ride the Cyclone, and in last year's Elephant and Piggie's "We Are in a Play!" She also served in several tech positions. Now that she's involved with Twelfth Night, Chayce is eager to tackle the new challenges that come with working in this style, and is excited to collaborate with our talented group to bring this production to life!
